Content:

This training course is designed to prepare candidates for the examination in leak testing as the principal inspection method; it will be carried out in collaboration with the Oelikon Leybold company. The following table details the content of the training course:

Programme:

Gas physics
Principles and operating techniques of leak testing
Vacuum technology: pumps, connecting components and measuring instruments
Leak test using mass spectrometer-type leak detectors (helium leak test)
Pressure measurement procedures: procedures
involving changes in pressure and the bubble leak test
Reference and test leaks
Special methods of leak testing
CEN standards relating to leak testing
Guide to drafting a procedure relating to leak testing
US bodies of standards relating to leak testing

Participants and conditions:

This training course addresses persons who have qualifications in engineering or comparable qualifications, have successfully obtained a qualification in BASIC and LT2 certification, and have appropriate professional experience. If the candidate has no preceding LT2 certification, he or she must pass the practical part of the Level 2 examination in order to obtain LT3 certification (see p 92). Prior to this practical examination, the candidate must follow a preparatory training course (see the Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum company seminars).

Fees:

Training: (5 days) €1,680.–

Examination to DIN EN 473 + certificate + certification card: (1 day) €690.–

Method section of the examination based on ASNT Guideline SNT-TC-1A: €480.–

Please note that the precondition for Level 3 certification is qualification at Level 2, i.e. in some cases Level 3 certification may be restricted to LT-B.
