MM = industrial sector 6 This comprises the following product fields: castings (1), forgings (2), tubes and pipes (4) and wrought products (5) from the standpoint of, e.g., a steel rolling-mill and the mechanical and automotive engineering industries.
PV = industrial sector 7 This comprises the following product fields: weld seams (3), tubes and pipes (4) and wrought products (5) from the standpoint of the construction of conventional and nuclear power plants, the maintenance of the same, or applications in the chemical industry and pipeline systems.
MS = industrial sector 9 This comprises the following product fields: castings (1), forgings (2), weld seams (3), tubes and pipes (4) and wrought products (5) from the standpoint of the construction of new plants, plant maintenance, or that of a non-destructive testing service company.
NB: As regards certification in accordance with the Pressure Equipment Directive(PED) there are restrictions in respect of sector and method selection. Thus, the PED only provides for the VT/MT/PT/RT/UT methods and the MS, PV and WS product fields.
