Employer-based certification - SNT-TC-1A, CP-189 and the ASME Code

The ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel (BPV) Code and the corresponding ASTM standards are used worldwide. In order to utilize them you have to meet the corresponding requirements of qualification and certification of NDT personnel in companies working within that scope. The ASME BPV Code demands from the employer to describe his qualification system for his NDT personnel in a Written Practice. The employer himself is the certification body. As a rule, the ASME BPV Code recommends that the minimum requirements of SNT-TC-1A or CP-189 of the American Society for Non-Destructive Testing (ASNT) are implemented.
