Compliance with the following code of ethics is mandatory for the validity of your SECTOR Cert certificate. You confirm this to us with your signature.
General
Certified persons must comply with this code of ethics as well as the relevant provisions of the applicable certification programme. They must at all times be aware of the rules or requirements of the standards under which they work and comply with them to the best of their knowledge and belief. Certified persons must perform their professional duties with due regard to applicable environmental and safety requirements for the health and well-being of the public in accordance with national law. They must strive to maintain their competence by keeping their technical knowledge as up to date as necessary for the proper performance of their tasks in the certified method and level.
Responsibility towards the certification body
Certified persons must check the information on the certificates. Should information on the certificate be incorrect – for example because personal information of the certified person has changed or because the certified person no longer meets the prerequisites for certification – it is the responsibility of the certified persons to inform the certification body as soon as possible so that the certification body can, if the certified person continues to meet the prerequisites for certification, issue a new corrected certificate or otherwise suspend or withdraw the certificate. Certified persons must immediately notify the certification body of any perceived breach of this code of ethics and report any attempt to pressure or force a certified person to violate these principles. Certified persons must refrain from any unethical acts that would discredit the certification system or unjustifiably bring the certification body into disrepute.
Responsibility towards the public
Certified persons may only sign documents within the scope of their own certification and when they personally have the expertise and/or direct supervisory control. They may only perform tasks for which they are qualified by virtue of their experience, qualification and certification. Where necessary they must involve specialists or recommend involving specialists if this proves necessary for the proper fulfilment of their testing tasks.
Responsibility towards employers, customers and business partners
Certified persons may only perform activities within their employment relationship for which they are authorised by the employer. They must inform their employer without delay if their certification is suspended or withdrawn. Certified persons must behave responsibly and use fair and equitable business practices in dealing with colleagues, customers and business partners.
Conflicts of interest
Certified persons should avoid conflicts of interest with employers or customers and, should such conflicts nevertheless arise in the course of their work, promptly inform the persons concerned of the situation.
Protection and disclosure of information
Certified persons must treat confidentially all information entrusted to them by employers, customers, colleagues or other persons. All relevant legal provisions on professional secrecy and the protection of personal data must be observed. Information may not be passed on to third parties for selfish reasons or personal advantage.
