Prerequisites
As a first step, submit an application for renewal within 9 months BEFORE expiry of the certification. (A late application may in exceptional cases be considered within 12 months after the expiry date if a valid justification is provided.)
With our written confirmation you can register for the renewal examination. The renewal examination may likewise be taken up to 9 months BEFORE expiry of validity without shortening or changing the certificate term. For seamless certification (i.e. without a time gap after the current certification) the entire certification process must be completed before expiry of validity. Certificates cannot be issued retrospectively. The exact prerequisites are described in the respective certification programme. For a renewal according to DIN EN ISO 9712: 2022-09, for example, the following prerequisites must be met:
a) Evidence of an adequate near-vision examination, performed within the last 12 months
b) Evidence of adequate colour vision and/or grey scale perception, performed within the last 60 months
c) Confirmation by the employer (or referee for self-employed applicants) of continued satisfactory work activity without significant interruption in the certified method, level and sector(s).
A significant interruption is a continuous period of more than one year or several periods which together exceed a total of two years during which the candidate does not perform activities in the certified method, level and sector.
Renewal by examination
Once all application documents have been submitted in full and the admission requirements have been met, you will receive a confirmation by email. With this confirmation letter you can register for the renewal examination at an examination centre recognised by SECTOR Cert.
The renewal examination covers 50% of the examination specimens according to the respective scope.
Please ensure that all documents are still valid at the time of the examination. This applies in particular to the validity of the visual acuity certificate, but also to the written renewal confirmation from the certification body. (If this has meanwhile expired, please contact the certification body in advance.)
Renewal via credit system
The so-called structured credit system requires verifiable evidence e.g. of your work activity.
If the renewal deadline has passed?
The renewal examination must be taken within the renewal period, i.e. no later than 12 months after expiry. 12 months after expiry of the certificate, no exception is possible any longer. In this case a recertification examination must be taken within the following 12 (or 24 months after expiry of the certificate) to regain certification. If this deadline is also missed, a full initial examination is required to regain certification.
Renewal for vibration condition monitoring and diagnostics (SZ) of Category I and II is effected by application within 6 months before expiry of certification.
A late application (within 12 months after the expiry date) may in exceptional cases and with a valid justification be considered.
12 months after expiry of the certificate, no exception is possible any longer. In this case a recertification examination must be taken to regain certification.
