What characterises an examination officer?
In addition to Level 3 certification in the method and sector in which he/she conducts the examination, an examination officer should have social skills. As a rule, examination officers receive induction training from the certification body, accompany 2 examination sessions under supervision and take part in regular experience exchanges.
What does personnel certification mean?
Confirmation of qualification; certificates may be issued in the form of individual documents or ID cards. Certification bodies also offer online verification to protect against forgery.
Are examinations adapted?
This is only possible to the extent provided for a restricted examination, e.g. for automated testing.
Can you trust an independent certification?
Independent certification bodies that are accredited are subject to high requirements. Qualifications recognised by these accredited bodies follow the rules of technology. Examinations serve to demonstrate the candidate’s ability to apply knowledge and skills.
How do qualification examinations proceed?
1. Welcome by the examination officer and his/her team
2. Handing out of the examination regulations, which must be understood and signed
3. Identity check and collection of prohibited items
4. Written and/or practical examination according to the certification programme
5. Evaluation and notification of the result
Why are higher training times sometimes required?
DIN EN ISO 9712 defines only minimum requirements. Experience has shown, however, that in some cases these are not sufficient to qualify NDT personnel appropriately.
How many accredited certification bodies for NDT are there in Europe?
As of 2010 there are 323 bodies accredited for the certification of personnel. But note: this includes all bodies that certify personnel – from solarium operators to persons who perform NDT.
What does accreditation mean?
It is issued by a governmental or private body. In Germany these are DAkkS (German Accreditation Body) and ZLS (Central Authority of the Federal States for Safety Technology). DAkkS confirms compliance with the requirements of DIN EN ISO/IEC 17024.
