EFNDT: When does ASNT 9712 meet the requirements of ISO 9712?

Where ISO 9712 is required by law, by a standard, by contract or in customer specifications, an ASNT 9712 certificate is not automatically equivalent. Every organisation should satisfy itself of the extent to which a certification can be regarded as equivalent to an ISO 9712 certificate, and whether the requirements for a certification body based on ISO/IEC 17024 have been met. The scope (method, level, sector) and recognition by authorities, notified bodies or customers should be assured. The EFNDT recommends that operators require, in their contracts, certificates from a body accredited to ISO/IEC 17024. SECTOR Cert, as a certification body for NDT personnel, is monitored by DAkkS for compliance with ISO/IEC 17024.
