Application for recertification
Recertification may be applied for from 9 months before expiry of certification and no later than 12 months after expiry (without a valid justification). If your application for recertification is approved, you will receive our written confirmation / admission with which you can register for the recertification examination.
The recertification examination may be taken up to 9 months before expiry of validity without shortening or changing the certificate term. To enable seamless certification (without a time gap after the current certification), the entire certification process, including examination and certification decision, must be completed before expiry of validity. Certificates cannot be issued retrospectively.
Recertification examination – where and when?
You can take your recertification examination in the relevant method and level at any regular event date at all our examination centres. Which examinations do you need to take?
ISO 9712 Level 1 and 2
Certificate holders at Level 1 and 2 take a practical examination. For Level 2 persons the practical examination includes drafting an NDT instruction.
ISO 9712 Level 3
Certificate holders at Level 3 must provide one of the following combinations to demonstrate knowledge and skills. For each of options 1 to 3 at least one examination at one of our examination centres is required.
The written examination consists of 20 multiple-choice questions on the application of the respective testing method and 10 additional questions on the SECTOR Cert certification programme.
How does the credit system work?
As a Level 3 certificate holder, do you regularly attend seminars, technical committees or conferences? Are you an examination officer or do you write scientific contributions? You may be able to demonstrate to us in a verifiable way that you keep your theoretical knowledge up to date. Collect points and ultimately save yourself a theoretical examination.
Recertification according to DIN ISO 18436-1
For seamless certification, send the recertification application in good time, ideally 9 months before expiry of your certificate, to SECTOR Cert. You should take the associated recertification examination at least 1 month before expiry, but no later than 12 months after expiry. Otherwise a full examination becomes necessary.
In Category 1 the written examination comprises 30 questions.
In Category 2 the written examination comprises 50 questions.
